The Clark College Outdoor and Recreation Club is hosting a surf trip to Long Beach on May 31, according to club co-founder Steve Furio.
Students of all levels of experience are welcome to attend. Co-founder Tyler Starks said a surfboard and wetsuits will be provided. Attendees might want to bring sunscreen, a towel and a change of clothes, Starks said.
There are 20 spots available and the $5 fee can be paid at the cashier’s office in Gaiser Hall. To secure a spot you must bring your receipt to Furio or Starks.
“We’re gonna be there whether it’s rainy or sunny,” Furio said.
Furio and Starks both work at Skookum Surf Co. as surf instructors during the summer in Long beach. Furio said he’s been giving surfing lessons since summer 2010. They are both certified lifeguards and trained in CPR.
Starks can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The club meets every Tuesday on the O’Connell Sports Center stage from 3 to 4 p.m.
