The Clark men’s basketball team is preparing for their next league game against Southwestern Oregon Community College on Saturday evening.

The Penguins (11-3) are optimistic about their early 4 p.m. game against the fifth-placed SW Oregon Lakers with a record of 7-8 and 1-1 for league play.

“If we take care of the ball, I would say an easy 20-point margin, because our defense is so suffocating,” said Clark’s leading scorer, Bryan Berg.

The Penguins are coming off of a 85-63 win against Mt. Hood Community College on Wednesday. The Mt. Hood Saints could not slow down the high tempo offense as they gave up 24 points on fast breaks alone.

This win marks a 2-0 record for the men’s league play, and places them first in the southern conference of the NWAC.

“It wasn’t ever that close of a game,” said center Miles Martin. “They held on for the first five or six minutes, and after wave after wave of subs, we did what Clark does best and ran them out of the gym.”

Although he was fighting a stomach bug, Martin managed to put up eight points and scavenge seven rebounds for Clark.
