College 101 will be required beginning Summer quarter for students looking to obtain their Associates in Arts degree from Clark.

This two-credit course is aimed to prepare incoming students with the basic essentials needed to be successful at Clark. The course details skills like academic planning and communication.

Vice President of Instruction Tim Cook described the class as teaching students “how to be successful at Clark.” Cook also believes that College 101 will particularly benefit first-generation college students, who make up 75 percent of Clark’s enrollment.

Cook said that requiring College 101 will greatly benefit students and “is probably one of the smartest things [Clark has] done in years.”
