The Big Band Bash

Clark is hosting the 5th annual Big Band Bash Saturday at 7 p.m. in Gaiser Student Center.

The Beacock Music Swing Band and Clackamas College Jazz Ensemble will return this year to play alongside the critically acclaimed Clark College Jazz Ensemble.

Clark music instructor Richard Inouye coordinated the first Big Band Bash in 2012 to showcase the Clark College Jazz Ensemble and other groups from local community colleges. However the event quickly evolved to include the Beacock Music Swing Band. Inouye hopes the festival will continue to build a sense of community around the jazz and swing culture in the area.

“You know you hit the mark when you have people standing up and dancing,” Inouye said.

Admission is free, and if your appetite for music is not completely satisfied by this event, the Clark College Concert Band will also be performing their final concert for the year on June 11 at 3 p.m. in O’Connell Sports Center.
